On Saturday, August 13, MCM volunteers helped support an adaptive hike at Patapsco Valley State Park (PVSP). The hike was sponsored by the Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park (FPVSP) and the Kennedy Krieger Institute. This hike was one of several adaptive activities that FPVSP has organized recently (including adaptive paddling and biking). There were approximately 10 participants—some in wheelchairs, some with canes or artificial limbs—as well as family members or friends. The hike took place on the Grist Mill Trail in the Glen Artney section of Patapsco. The hike was led by a PVSP ranger who explained features of the area and answered questions. MCM members Rose Eicker, Leslie Marcuse, Joan Montanari, and Bill Saunders supported the hike by walking with the group and answering questions about MCM. Many thanks to our volunteers, and PVSP and FPVSP, for their programs that provide others with the opportunity to hike!
