Mountain Club members may enjoy a watching recent episode of Outdoors Maryland (shown on Maryland Public Television) that has ties to the Mountain Club. The first segment discusses the growth and impacts of the beaver population in Maryland, including North Point State Park–where a beaver pond was overflowing onto a nearby hiking trail. In 2021, MCM gave a grant to the park to support the installation of a beaver baffle that maintains the pond’s water level at a level that preserves the hiking trail.
The second part of the television show discusses the Maryland section of the Appalachian Trail and mentions MCM as one of the trail partners that maintains the Trail. This is an interesting show, and it can be viewed at this link:
