The Howard County Conservancy (HCC) recently announced the opening of the Bob and Janine Grossman Amphitheater. Before Bob’s death in an accident in 2016, he and Janine were dedicated volunteers at HCC, often working there to guide students or maintain trails, in addition to their serving in multiple leadership roles at the Mountain Club of Maryland (MCM). Since then, Janine has continued her work as a treasured volunteer at both HCC and MCM. Now, a generous donation from Janine has enable HCC to construct this amphitheater. Nestled among native plants in the John L. Clark Honors Garden, the amphitheater will serve as a delightful location for outdoor concerts or lecture. Janine, all of us in MCM salute you for your generosity to HCC, as well as for the leadership and time you provide to the Mountain Club. If any MCM members visit HCC to hike, stop and view the new amphitheater–or when we gather at HCC next September to celebrate our 90th Anniversary (there will be announcements about that gathering in the future).
