Many of us at MCM were saddened to learn of the passing of long-term member and club leader Bob Carson, who died on January 13, 2023. Bob joined the Mountain Club in 1966 and immediately became an active hiker, trip leader, and club volunteer. During his 50+ years in the club, he served as a Councilor, rock climbing organizer, trip / excursions coordinator, publicity coordinator, vice president, and (from 1970-1972) as the MCM president. For most of the past 10 years, he has chaired our Awards Committee. His loyalty to our club, and his friendships within the club, continued to the end. We were fortunate to have Bob in attendance at our recent Holiday Party, where the attached photograph was taken.
Bob was born in 1934 (the same year in which the Mountain Club was established), and he took delight in reminding us that he and our club were the same age. While that will no longer be the case, our memory of him will continue onward.
