The Mountain Club of Maryland, with over 1,000 members is a vibrant organization. On any given week, you will find somewhere between and 8 and 12 hikes to choose from at various levels of challenge in a variety of locations. For those inclined, MCM is one of 30 clubs that maintains and monitors the Appalachian Trail over its full length from Georgia to Maine, as well as helping on other local trails, so that all hikers from beginner to experienced, day trippers, weekenders, and through hikers can enjoy the outdoors and the fun of hiking. It takes a team of volunteers to keep a large organization as such as ours relevant, constantly moving forward, and on an even keel, starting with the individual hike leaders who are the heart of the Mountain Club. Each hike leader has meticulously scouted out each hike, spending hours getting that trail experience, mileage, elevation, and challenge just right, making hike day look easy. Be sure to thank your hike leader for the time and effort that they have put in to that day for you to enjoy.
