A train derailment has damaged the walkway we use in those final, exhausting moments of the HAM – and many other hikes.
No word yet on a repair date.
So unless you have a canoe, or you’re a good swimmer, you might like to re-plan your Harpers Ferry hiking plans.
The real concern is A.T. through hikers getting stuck on either side of the river. Hopefully, there aren’t too many through hikers at this time of year.
