An out and back hike of a total of about 11.5 miles going north from Gathland State Park to the Rocky Run Shelter and return. Hike both along the river and a ridgeline towards Prettyboy Reservoir dam, then and downstream. There are some spots where the trail is rocky, narrow or hilly, so poles are recommended.
