An out and back hike of a total of 10.5 miles going north from Gathland State Park to White Rock overlook and on to lunch at Rocky Run Shelter. Total elevation gain is about 2000 ft. Our pace while hiking will average 2.0-2.5 MPH.

Starting at the Soapstone Trail Head, we will take a pleasant Spring stroll on the trails: Soapstone, Santee, Buzzard's Rock, Grist Mill, and Vineyard Springs, to mention a few. Forest greening should be in full swing. A few rock hopping stream crossings. ~1300 feet of elevation rise. 2.25-2.5 MPH.

Hike a wooded loop very close to the Little Gunpowder Falls on mostly smooth trails, but there are a few rocky and rooted areas. You will have 1-2 stream crossings. Scenic short hike to the Jericho Rd covered bridge. Meet at 10am at visitor parking lot in the village.

This 8-9 mile hike in the Glen Artney area of Patapsco Valley State Park will follow the Soapstone Trail and adjacent trails, finishing around noon. There will be a snack break but no lunch stop. The hike has some moderate hills and stream crossings.

This hike in Carroll County is on fire roads and foot paths through wooded areas with lots of water views. Expect about 1000 ft of elevation change. There are no stream crossings. Our moving pace will be about 2.25-2.5 mph, but we will be stopping to admire and identify the spring ephemerals that we see.

MT. CARMEL RD. GUNPOWDER LOOP – 6-7M

Jeremy’s Run/Neighbor Mtn., Shenandoah National Park — 14S

In the morning, we’ll have a steep hike to the top of Neighbor Mountain. We’ll then follow the AT to Elkwallow for lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll return along Jeremy’s Run, crossing the stream 14 times, with many opportunities to get wet. Elevation gain is approximately 2,800 feet.
