This Saturday, January 16th, four MCM members and a dog hiked the Little Gunpowder Falls off Bottom Road, completing a 5.5 -mile pinched loop on the Harford County side, downsteam along the river.
Trails followed the river bank, crossed infeeders, then looped out and back higher on the valley rim, all through hardwood forest with a mostly clear understory.
This was my first time leading a hike for MCM. Mary Ryan joined us for her first MCM hike; Marcie and Doug Schubert, long time members, came up from Catonsville; and Iris, my dog, lead the way for most of the morning.
The last evening’s rain had not left the trails as wet as I had feared, and the weather was far more bright and dry than predicted. We met at nine, waited 10 minutes for a no-show, and completed the hike around 11:20.
